The year 2020 is unlike any year in our lifetime! Despite the worldwide Pandemic the show must go on safely! Ballet dancers from Ballet Northwest and the Olympia Dance Center performed The ballet The Nutcracker while wearing PPE masks during filming of The Nutcracker in November 2020 at The Center in Olympia, Washington. Jolly Sienda Photography was there on Friday, November 13, photographing an enthusiastic and talented cast under the direction of Ken and Josie Johnson.

Poulsbo, Washington's Little Norway Provides Rich Culture and Fun for the Family!

Have you ever visited Poulsbo, Washington? It’s a Norwegian-style town settled in the late 1800’s by Europeans from Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany. The town is known for its Norwegian old fashioned flair, vikings, colorful painted buildings, inviting boat marina, walk-able streets, restaurants, and shops. In the summer and winter there are viking festivals and art festivals on the marina. Families gather at the Austin Kvelstad Pavilion for picnics and in the summertime art festivals and musicians often entertain on the weekend from the pavilion. Liberty Bay provides a great area for boating, kayaking, water-sports, and a fireworks display over the 4th of July holiday.

Autumn is the perfect time to take a deep breath, exhale, and appreciate our natural beauty surrounding us. Get out there and seize the day! With your camera get off Auto and put your camera to Manual Mode. Adjust the aperture and the shutter speed and use your ISO. The lower the number on the aperture the more light you let in. Using high numbers for shutter speed will freeze action. Using higher ISO number enables your camera to work in lower light conditions with more light. Does that make sense? Everybody gets stressed at times in their lives. Whether it be a divorce, job change, loss of family, or living in a Pandemic — life can stress you out!

Meet Kelly Sievertson, a licensed clinical social work and therapist practicing in Edmonds, Washington. Kelly came to me because she needed new images for her website and marketing materials. Our initial photoshoot took a couple of hours, both indoors in a studio setting with an office and lounge background, and outdoors, incorporating the Pacific Northwest’s nature, Kitsap Peninsula gardens, and waterfront. Bainbridge Island Family Portraits and Paddle Boarding = Summer FUN!!!

Rich and I had the pleasure of doing annual family portraits for the EBaugh family with the beautiful, coastal landscape around Bainbridge Island and the Puget Sound. The family loves to paddle board and is enjoying the summer months outside, on the water, as much as possible. We had fun with them capturing these moments.

Our Earth is 4.54 billions years old! The earth is precious. It’s the air we breath, the land we walk on, the land we want our children and their children to have, and as Climate Change shows temperatures are rising on land and on the high seas, drought, changing weather patterns, forest fires, pollution…all of these things put our Earth at risk. Regain your Mental and Physical Strength by Enjoying Nature Through Social Distancing

In this time of change and worldwide awareness for our health and safety it's important to do our best to remain calm, take care of ourselves, and I believe get back to the basics of life. As you know, I recently lost Anabel, my mom, and I'm grateful she passed before the Pandemic. In honor of her life I took a few days last week to recharge my batteries and soul and to remember her legacy. I walked the beach, felt the wind on my face, collected agates and rocks, breathed fresh air, hiked, and enjoyed the comfort of natural surroundings. Did you know you should update your business career photos every year or two? Having new professional headshots done shows others you’re current and want to connect with them. I enjoyed photographing my friend and business associate Tracy Bell, Senior Loan Officer, Priority Home Lending, in Poulsbo, Washington. It’s late October and time to get outside and enjoy the golden sunshine and the cool days — where wearing your favorite sweater is about all you need! Take a refreshing ride on a bike along a forest path covered with autumn leaves or walk in a park and just listen to the beautiful silence of nature. Enjoy, brilliant fall colors: crimson, amber, golden yellow, taupe, and orange —eye candy. And…it’s all here in the Pacific Northwest.
