Our trip to Central America included stops in Costa Rica where we took an aerial tram up into the dense jungle canopy. This was very relaxing and took an hour to get up to the highest spot in the jungle and come down again. During our ride we saw and heard birds and saw a Coatimundis on a trail - which was a lucky sighting. We also visited the Costa Rica Animal Rescue Sanctuary and saw white and black faced Capuchins, sloths, and other wildlife that had been rescued.

In Puerto Vallarta we visited the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe and old town and enjoyed seeing artwork on the Malecon Boulvevard. Photos by Jolly Sienda Photography and Studio.

Our tour guide told us, “Cartagena, Columbia only has one temperature…hot, hotter, hottest!” Yes, it was summer and dry this March 2025 during our visit and the city was captivating! The old city is completely within a wall. Castillo de San Felipe is an impressive fortress in Cartagena. Sailing Through the Panama Canal by Jolly Sienda Photography and Studio

Did you know it takes nearly a day to pass through the Panama Canal with it’s three locks and Gatun Lake? Last March 2025, Rich and I with about 1,000 passengers including crew members sailed on the Holland America Zaandam ship entering the area and waiting our turn at about 6 am on the Atlantic Ocean and finishing on the Pacific Ocean after 7 pm. For us, it was an unforgettable journey to see and experience this master engineering feet. Below are photos of our day.

Oh my heart! Visiting Antigua, Guatemala was a dream to come. It was our favorite country stop during our 15-day Central America and Panama Canal cruise, March 2025. The ancient Spanish colonial old town of Antigua is rich with culture, history, old world charm and photojournalist opportunities. The people, the colors, beautiful handmade tapestries, cobblestone stone streets, cathedrals and public squares are enchanting. And, the views of the active volcano Volcán de Fuego, Volcano of Fire, is seen from the town. I will visit Guatemala again. A Pacific Northwest Autumn Has Great Color - Just Look For It! Photos by Jolly Sienda Photography.com

Visiting the town of Port Gamble, Washington does not disappoint when it comes to vibrant orange, red, and yellow colors. Maple Trees planted along the main street add a pretty line to the white picket fences and historic homes of Port Gamble, founded in 1853. Visit the Buena Vista Cemetery too, circa 1956. Can be a little spooky with foggy weather. Two weeks later, we took a trip up to Lake Crescent and were delighted to see yellow and orange Larch trees spotted throughout the evergreens, entwined with some whisper fog. Lake Crescent was spectacular at at sunrise with brilliant color, some fog, and such crystal clear water. Lastly, the Norwegian town of Poulsbo, Washington with autumn foliage. Happy Autumn! Fabulous Tulips, Portraits, and Painters at Roozengaarde at the Mount Vernon Tulip Festival

Do you like seeing beautiful rows of multi-colored tulips that stretch for miles? Then, grab the kids, your phone and a camera and explore the gorgeous flower gardens at Roozengaarde in Mount Vernon, Washington. Spring sprung early this year, 2024, and the tulips are huge and so colorful! When I was there this week with photographer friends from the Kitsap Photography Guild, we entered the gardens at 10 am and spent two hours roaming around the tulip fields. Meet Sloane Jillian Brogan, Animal Supporter and Mortgage Industry Professional

I had the pleasure of working with Sloane Jillian Brogan last week to create for her some new branding portraits and headshots for her business and online marketing. Sloane is a positive successful humble lady who enjoys helping people, especially military families and veterans, discover their dream of home-ownership. Wishing of a Wonderful Man, Friend, and Fellow Photographer, Roger Heng, Comfort and Better Health

This past week, I learned my friend Roger Heng is in a nursing home and is being given great care and comfort. Roger is a kind man with a wry sense of humor. I have enjoyed seeing him and his lovely wife Sue together at the Kitsap Photography Guild meetings, at the annual club barbecue, seeing his wonderful photos, and during the summer they often would come and say hello and chat with me at my photography art booth at the Poulsbo Art Show.

It’s always fun to see Roger and Sue and we chat about photography, recent trips, life in general, and sometimes about their years living Yellowstone National Park. I always enjoy seeing the twinkle in Roger’s eyes and admired the beautiful multi-colored beaded and leather belt he proudly wore that Sue made for him.

Last year, Sue and Roger came to my Bremerton photography studio and I helped them with new business headshots and family photos, some featured below. Both Roger and Sue were a delight to take photos of and we had a lot of fun catching up with one another.

Thinking of Roger and hoping the care he is receiving offers him comfort and grace. My prayers and heart goes out to my friend Sue with many blessings to her and their children as they navigate the roads ahead. Thinking of you with friendship and love, Jolly.
